I love the Blues. I was born and raised in Mississippi which is the birthplace of the Blues. Now I don’t claim a troubled upbringing nor do I have the Blues in my soul, but every now and then I get bogged down with worry about things I can’t control. One sleepless night during a particularly worrisome time, I woke up unable to get back to sleep and started humming the song, “Don’t Worry, Be Happy.” I thought a good title for a Blues song in response would simply be “I’m Not Happy.” and so I wrote the lines to this song. Thankfully, these bouts of worry go as quickly as they come.
So…don’t worry…be happy.

But these blues got me singin’ a darker note.
